Fuck em.
I typed your symptoms into this thing up here and it says you could have network connectivity problems.
They had to do something to get the press coverage back after we signed Cedeno and
released F-Mart.

Damn it
It was only a few hours ago that it looked like they would enter the season with a fairly weak rotation, and now they’ve added two excellent pitchers and now have a good rotation. Phil Hughes went from possibly being their third starter to possibly out of the rotation.
Surplus of pitchers in NYY.
Hughes, etc. expendable?

Maybe it's the places
I’ve looked(River Ave Blues & Pinstripe Alley) or maybe it’s just prospect hugging, but I’m really getting annoyed at how much Yankee fans are seriously underrating Pineda. Dude had k/9 over 9 as a 22 year old & they talk about him like he’s friggin’ Victor Zambrano or some shit. I hate them.
Live ironic and whatnot.
Some Yankee fans know nothing outside of the NYY.
Probably looking at his W/L record and nothing else. Young, tons of potential, and already pretty damn good.

Some? Try nearly all.

Yea the best is most think
this opens the door to sign Prince Fielder for full time DH.
If you want my honest opinion...
It’s not so much the trade people hate as much as losing Jesus. A lot of us were looking forward to seeing him come up in the majors next year and hopefully hit as well as we saw when he was up at the end of the year. But I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again that any Yankees fan who gets too attached to prospects is only going to hurt themselves later on, because of the organization they root for.
Why I personally hate this trade is because it just feeds into the bullshit narrative I hate about #2 starters and how pitching is everything. We made it to the playoffs with a makeshift rotation. We lost in the playoffs due to lack of hitting, not pitching, and suddenly we’re desperate for a #2 starter now? The Dicktards from Phillie had an unstoppable rotation going into the playoffs and made it no farther than we did, but “pitching is everything” and all that. Seriously, and I really really really do apologize if this comes off as arrogance, we were most likely making it to the playoffs in 2012 with or without Pineda. If any of our starters prior to today’s Yankfest didn’t work out we had decent minor leaguers to fill in some spots. However, because of the “must win now at all cost” Yankees mentality, things like this happen. There can be no uncertainty even though there will always be uncertainty.

Nah, you're not arrogant, I understand this view
I was kind of surprised that they dealt Montero because he seemed like a promising and clearly fan-favored guy. And especially considering the nabbing of Kuroda I can see why you’d rather keep Montero than trade him for Pineda. But now, all you can do is hope that the trade works out in the long term.

Well
I guess the good thing is it’s not like they dealt Montero for a rental. Pineda’s going to be around a long time, at least 5 years and he’s only 23. So while he’s sort of just a luxury right now, if he develops like everyone thinks he can, you’ve got another potential ace who could step in if say CC starts to break down or something.
I think we learned this lesson during the Omar Minaya era, that if you only fix last year’s problems and aren’t proactive to fix what you think could be a problem soon, you’re just not going to improve much because things do go wrong. Especially when you’re relying on older guys. I know the offense was a bit shaky in the playoffs but if I were you, I’d be incredibly happy to have that pitching staff. Assuming everyone’s healthy, they’re going to be good. Really good. Bravo to Cashman for improving a weakness with a young stud who’ll be around for years.

Oh this was a much much MUCH better trade than renting Lee
I would’ve fucking flipped if they did that move. Like I said in the other thread, it’s not the trade itself that bothers me more than the reasoning behind it. Despite the Yankees questionable rotation, we actually do have some pitching depth. Noesi will most likely start on the Mariners and we’ll see what he can fully do there. Phelps or Warren are also most likely MLB ready, or as ready as they are going to be. Plus, we just signed Kuroda for a year and Man-Ban (love that nickname) should be ready in a year or two, assuming our front office doesn’t fuck him up like they did Joba & possibly Hughes (Hugh knows what’s happening to him this year).
It’s a great trade overall. I just hate the #2 starter narrative and the idea that we need 4 Aces like a poker player does.

Well goddamn, the Yankees just shored up their weakness.
This is going to be one very long season.

I still think they're a 3rd place team
I could see the Rays easily winning 100+ games and running away with the division, and the Red Sox can’t fuck up any worse than they did last year, and Crawford can not possibly be that bad again.

The Red Sox rotation is awful
and I don’t see how the Rays come close to winning that many games.

You don't?
The same Price/Shields/Helly trio with a full season of Matt Moore and Desmond Jennings added into their strong core of a healthy Longoria, Zobrist (most underrated player in baseball), Joyce, and a primed-for-a-breakout BJ Upton? I’d be shocked if they don’t win the division, at least.

They've won 97, 84, 96, and 90 the past four years
I wouldn’t call it too much of a stretch, because I see this as the best Rays team ever assembled.

I wish we could be that awful.

Bedard wasn't there very long
Lackey is addition by subtraction. I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring in Oswalt on a one year deal + incentives.

I saw them as a third place team before they got Kuroda and Pineda
They leapfrogged the Red Sox for sure imo and maybe the Rays too.
"Crawford can not possibly be that bad again"
Bay can not possibly be that bad again
Ollie can not possibly be that bad again
Alomar can not possibly be that bad again
Fregosi can not possibly be that bad again
Eh, just remember--
Their quick-fix pitchers really overperformed last year, and while their hitters’ll still be really good, this is probably the year Jeter becomes below-average and A-Rod misses half the season. Add Granderson and Martin going back to normal, etc. (Yeah, yeah, one has to tell one’s self something.)
Yankees blah blah blah
Fuck ’em!

It all started in 2006
Sanchez never gets hurt. The butterfly effect of Ollie Perez never is seen in a Met uniform. Plus El Duque and Pedro going dowm.. 2007 it was the same story. 2008 our pen couldn’t stay healthy. I don’t remember 2009 must’ve blacked it out for a reason. 2010 Reyes missed significant time. 2011 Ike daivs misses almost the entire year along with others. Jiust off the top of my head. So we have been plagued for years. I can handle the occasional starter going down. But 2 years in a row we end the season basically with the Buffalo Mets squad.
It goes back farther than you think
Koosman’s arm injuries in the early ’70s might have prevented him from being one of the best lefties of all time. Staub was injured a few times around the same time frame, and was traded to make room for Mike Vail, who hurt himself playing basketball. The Mets could have ran away with the division in 1973 but had to rush for it at the end of the year because of injuries. Strawberry and Gooden were hurt a lot in the beginning of their careers, and devastating injuries cost the Mets the 1987 season.
Of course, there was Bob Ojeda cutting his finger with the hedge trimmers, and Rey O’s injury in 2000 which forced us to give up something with actual value for Mike Bordick.

Yeah, my friends have told me all about this
And it really makes me question the medical staff of the Mets. I’m no Mets Expert, or Mexspert, but it hasn’t been just injury but also mis diagnosis as well. The Ike Davis thing last year really caught me off guard.

Always liked Kuroda
Here’s hoping the Yankee game I go to next season is a Kuroda-Darvish match-up.

The Yankees aren't our enemy
They’re just there, nearby nnowadays who have a mansion, unlike us in our condo that the bank is trying to foreclose on.
And, yes, generally you have to pay to see ballgames nowadays.
