Around SBN: L'Equipe Claims He's Coming To Chelsea On Five Year Deal

Ydickey-blog480

R.A. Dickey has reached the crest of Mt. Kilimanjaro:

We had done it! We gave hugs and high-fives all around above the clouds at the highest point in Africa.

The view was unforgettably magnificent, as incredible as anything I have ever seen. But as I took time to contemplate, I realized that the reason the view was so rich was the overall experience of the trek. We had walked approximately 40 miles and climbed 13,000 feet since the beginning of the journey, overcoming all kinds of adversities. All the while, we were building relationships with everyone from the porters to one another, sharing in our triumphs and helping one another in times of need.

excellent!

Also, this:

I put my earphones in and turned on my fully charged iPod to distract me from the elements.

I wonder what’s on his iPod? Given that he’s from Nashville and that he’s the definition of cool, I bet he’s got some sweet indy country-rock band that would probably put on an excellent show if I could catch them at Brooklyn Bowl or the Bell House.

Best live show around, btw. Saw them on the most excellent new years of my life at the Bowery, after the Flaming lips and Wilco at MSG. Done bragging.

I declare, by the name of the Holy Church of Dickey,

that any follower of his light, seeking metacognitive self-realization, may come to meditate and learn on the journey of a life time; to discover one’s self and learn how to become one with Dickey, to achieve the zenith of Nirvana; following in our lord’s foot steps in order reach the same peaks our ancestors have reached before us. By this decree, the new temple of the One, outside of the Imperial City of Dickey, shall be stationed atop the holy mountain, Kilimanjaro. Any who seek to learn and meditate under Dickey’s teachings may join this “Hajirah”, and repent, grow, and prosper. And may we say, R.A.men.

never too soon for R.A.

i just hope he grants us this wish. After all, throwing a no-hitter is his choice. He decides what to do and not to do. If it is on his agenda, then were in luck.

Kilimanjaro is a relatively easy climb

there are actual trails up the mountain, even families do the climb together. Regardless a very nice accomplishment.

I was curious about why the wife didn't go along

I think his kids are young, but it would be a fantastic trip, and there are probably grandmas and grandpas for babysitting. I guess there are people who aren’t much into hiking, even if it is lifetime experience sort of hiking.
