SOPA and PIPA and AA

I know it's against the rules to talk politics on this site, but SOPA and PIPA put sites like Amazin Avenue at risk. Every time someone does a glorious MS Paint with a copyrighted image or makes a gif out of MLB's footage of a game, copyright holders would have the power to force the site's removal from search engines, shut down their ad payments, and destroy our beloved Amazin Avenue. Please click on the link above and sign Google's petition. It's not just Amazin Avenue that's at risk, it's the free and open internet as we know it.

Forget signing a Google petition

E-mail your Congressman/Senator directly. They don’t check those things themselves, but deleting 500,000 separate e-mails gets the point across better than one with 500,000 names.

if we can force their free labor (i.e. interns) to quit in horror

they have to spend time hiring new interns to abuse and training them in what sort of coffee/bagels/sexual favors/gladiatorial duels they require on a regular basis, so it does inconvenience them some.

Judging by the amount of people that post on this site during business hours

and the amount of people bitching on my Facebook wall (again, during business hours), I’m actually supportive of SOPA. It will be better for the economy than all other legislation proposed by either party, combined.

I mean, we had a great economy until the internet boom, didn’t we. SHUT DOWN THE INTERWEBS, BRING BACK JOBS!!!

Time to update this: 2009 Did Not Happen. Neither did 2010. Or 2011. Sports suck.

but when Chris Dodd (CEO of the MPAA) is holding up fucking China as the model to follow, you know this bill is terrible. Anyone who suggests that we need to be more like China when it comes to the web and copyright protection is full of shit.
