Jonah Hill is an Oscar nominee? Seriously?
To be fair, I’ve yet to see the film.
"I dunno. I never smoked any Astroturf. "
– Tug McGraw when asked about his preference for grass or astroturf
I don't get why people hate on Hill
He was great in Superbad and funny in everything else he’s been in. I haven’t seen Moneyball yet either, but I can’t see them casting Brad Pitt in an Aaron Sorkin penned film just to blow casting on the second lead.
I'm not hating on him
I agree with you on everything you said, actually. But Hill is a young, comic actor and the Oscars are… oh, hell, never mind.

Sorry
Just I know a lot of people who think he sucks but also like the two most popular movies he starred in, Get him to the Greek and Superbad. Generally, I think most people disliked him cause he used to be fat.
I have no problem with fatness
Some of the best actors (and comic actors) are fat. I just don’t see any funny in him beyond what the script puts there. He just seems dull. (Haven’t seen this movie.)
he was pretty good in Cyrus too
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?

he's fine as like the 5th or 6th guy in the film you go to for jokes
but movies should not star him. Or maybe they need to stop making such shitty comedies that are just aimed at people who will be watching the movie while baking or drinking. Actually, both

i know its somewhat hard to believe, but he really did do an excellent job with the role

What crap
The academy needs to get out of mom’s basement and actually watch a film or two. “Transformers 3”: that’s a movie that has a lot of RBIs that the nerds don’t understand.

Just saw the movie for the first time last week.
It’s better than I thought it would be. I guess I had it in my mind it was all hype but that didn’t seem to be the case.
Then again, I love just about all baseball movies.

what about the one with Freddie Prinze and Jessica Biel
the only scene I remember is Biel’s body in the pool; actually, that’s the only reason I didn’t switch channels either

Moneyball was a really, really nice movie.
All of the nominations are well deserved, and yes, Even Jonah Hill was excellent.

Yea, can’t imagine the preparation required to play the role of “wide eyed baseball nerd”.
Most arguments are really about context.
