Mets Confirm That They've Hired CRG Partners
Corroborating Eno Sarris's report from a few hours ago.
Per Brian Costa:
"Mets Limited Partnership engaged CRG Partners to provide services in connection with financial reporting and budgeting processes."
We don't know that a sale or bankruptcy is in the offing, but we do know that the Rangers used this same firm to broker their sale in 2010. At all events, this is a good thing for Mets fans. Fiscal solvency would mean there'd be more resources to commit to on-field talent. Bankruptcy would likely portend a majority sale to an ownership group in a better financial situation than the current group. Win-win.

You'd think that coming to this realization
before letting Reyes walk with no offer to Miami would’ve made sense. But then again one could think the Wilponzis’ had this middle finger maneuver planned the whole time to salt and spite a fan base that openly reviles their ownership. All things considered, its potentially too much of a good thing watching these idiots walk out the door to focus on this in hindsight. But I just plain hate the Wilponzis.

I have a hard time
believing us fans came in anything but dead last in their thought process concerning this, all things considered.

The length of the contract was the major difference between the two sides with Reyes, was it not?
I mean, he’s making $10 million dollars for 2012 and 2013, so it’s not like he wasn’t open to backloading the contract to some degree and taking less cash right off the bat- it would be the immediate cash that the Mets are having problems with.

Fantastic news.
It's like saying you dislike Don Frye's mustache, which itself is the equivalent of spitting on the Constitution. - Anthony Pace
on one hand this is great news
on the other hand it’s a bit sad that we’re at the point that we’re getting excited about financial teams being hired/ possible foreshadows of bankruptcy.

They emailed this clip from Zimbabwe.
Their winter tour of the southern hemisphere is going well.
There is concern Irving Picard may demand them as part of the Maddoff settlement however.

I'd pay close attention to the defnitiion of turnaround consultants
that’s in the second sentence of my piece. doesn’t sound like industry standard is to hire a turnaround consultant just to work on budget processes. either way I agree with Eric that this is good news.
I was the fancy old word for firing workers

If The Mets Go Bankrupt
Do the players (and ex-players) become unsecured creditors? I think so.
I wouldn’t count on signing any free agents for a while. But the Mets may be out from under the Bay and Santana contracts a year early.
As I’ve said, the bottom is 2013, not 2012. Wright will be gone, along with Bay and Santana, and probably Dickey, Pelfrey, anyone above the major league minimum who is not a one year free agent at the end of his career.
Recovery comes in 2015 and after, depending on how well Alderson plays it. But at least if the Mets are actually bankrupt, perhaps the Wfans will accept the need to build the hard way.
I think that MLB guarantees all contracts

If that's true
How is it that the Dodgers have been doing just that – signing FAs,and at least one for big $$/years?
Although I don’t doubt this is the beginning of some very lean years.
by MetsFan4Decades on Jan 6, 2012 8:37 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
It's up to the judge but since the team sale would probably match the total debt or more
than I doubt voiding player contracts is even considered. The big killer for the Wilpons is the interest payments.
This stance does not pan out

sorry for teh deley but i haz been teh busy
what with football and all, but yea it is nice to see teh light at teh end of teh shaft tunnel….these ownars are teh biggest piles of shit evar….they don’t know anything about teh game other than teh Dodgers were in Brooklyn once…..I herd that Jeff thinks teh reason they were in Brooklyn was that it was just a really long roadtrip, and since then it has been a really long homestand. This is the guy in charge, by teh way. So yeah, turnaround this you fucking asswipe….I hope you lose the team, I hope you all go completely belly up and wind up selling teh hotdogs at Yankee stadium, becuase teh Yankees are winnars™ and you deserve each other.
