Exactly
We don’t really give it much thought, but he’s been in the organization for almost ten years now.

Are we sure it's a player?

Regardless of who made the comment
Doing it through the media is not the answer
ESPN, Mike Francesa, NY Post, NY Daily News, Fox Sports = Propaganda
Feel free to add me on Twitter;
https://twitter.com/#!/BlueChill1123
A commenter there suggests that it can't be anyone on the pitching staff, including Warthen
Because nobody on the pitching staff would be so ruthless about what we lack in pitching compared to our division. But I think it could be Warthen – he seems like he might be the kind of guy who would focus his feelings about his workplace on what he lacks in a staff, and like the kind of guy who would speak out of school about it. Also, the loyalty bit focuses on coaches. And I can’t think of a player who seems plausible. I also fully believe that NYM would blithely try to make a Met staffer opinion appear to be a player opinion. So I think maybe it’s Warthen.
This quote sums up my feelings perfectly
It hurts me to say this, because I’ve always liked Fred Wilpon. I know in his heart how much he wants the Mets to succeed. He’s always lived and died with the team. But there comes a time when it’s no longer possible to be in charge. Fred doesn’t have enough money to make it work.
I never really disliked the Wilpons until recently. Relative to other owners, they did not appear to meddle too much with the GM and his staff and, most importantly, they were always willing to spend money when they had it.
I've always disliked them
They have by all accounts meddled plenty, hired stupid incompetent gms and have cut payroll at times. They have thirty years of failure. It is time for them to go.

Is it extremely cynical to say David Wright?
AAARRRRRRRSSSSSHHHHHHHHAAAAAAVVVVVIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNN!

I was kind of thinking him too, initially.
From the way it was written, it looks like a veteran and somebody who’s been around the organization (and probably the big league team) for a while. That cuts down a lot of the options right there.

Also, he's spoken in the past about respect for the Wilpons
That made me wonder. It probably isn’t, because it doesn’t strike me as Wright.

I'm thinking no because of this line:
Reyes and David Wright were the heart of that team.
Wright likely knows it’s true, but he doesn’t strike me as the type to say it even anonymously.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here: Izzy
Not currently signed, but someone who was here last year, signed by the Wilpons over a decade ago, had his first success with the A’s…that’s my guess, but who knows.

This just screams "Leiter" to me
He’s always seen himself as an integral part of the Mets organization, and he might still do so. I think he’s expressed his disapproval in the Wilpons (who hasn’t?), and combine that with the obligatory YES Network Jeter knob-slobbing (they were teammates too) and his referral to the Mets as a great organization (they were already in contention when he showed up) and it’s fairly obvious to me. Even the tone seems right.
John Franco would shock me. After 15 years with the team I can’t imagine this working class, Brooklyn bred closer speaking well of the Yankees.

I never felt like Leiter saw himself as part of the Mets organization
I mean, I wish he did…but I never really saw it

Besides, Leiter works for YES now. I'm not sure if he's still close to the org.

I think he was pretty pissed when they let him go after 04
in order to sign Pedro. Didn’t he say some bad things about the organization or something?

Friends with Franco doesn't mean he's close or cares about the Mets organization
I always wished he did, but it always seemed to me like he was more of Yankee at heart.

On MLB Network, when they get to talking about careers
Leiter generally refers to himself as a Met first, and everything else second. For however much that matters.

I think Leiter loved the Mets
He seemed angry about how his tenure ended though…mainly Omar I think. I forget how exactly it transpired, but he didnt leave on the best of terms. I think it was something like…Even though most people had the sense Al had wanted to stay he was trying to get more money out of the Mets by saying he could go to another team and get more money if the Mets didn’t offer what he wanted them to (something I think he had done another year as well I think). But basically Omar called his bluff (rare for Omar not to just give a player anything he wants) stuck to the offer and gave Al a deadline to take it. And when Al didn’t…he moved on.
I think Al eventually came back and say he’d take that offer, but by then the Mets moved on and decided to go after Pedro/Beltran, etc. There was some speculation that Omar never really wanted to sign Leiter, but he did at least extend him that offer in the beginning.
really?
Leiter always seemed like an uber-Met to me, like he really loved being here and playing on this side of town, and I’ve always felt strange whenever I watch Yankees games and see that Leiter is working for them

I doubt it's a young guy. I doubt Ike, Niese or Tejada have had many
opportunities to hob knob with the Wilpons to form a real opinion. It’s either a retired vet or coach. I’m going with Hojo.
Wait guys. I think we are over analzing this.

I'm going with HoJo
Not that anything said in the article hasn’t been said by a lot of people. But many of the things said, HoJo has tweeted about…feeling bad for the fans, that if he was X player he wouldn’t want to stay, not offering Reyes a contract, that the team is a long way away, its sad whats happened to the team, etc. The part about the coaches especially makes it seem HoJo-esque. I could see some players being upset about the lack of spending, but I don’t think many would care that much about the history of the Mets organization or the OF coach getting fired.
I don’t think Mookie getting fired is something that meshes with the rest of the article, nor do I think Mookie getting fired was a money/Wilpon thing. But HoJo was a coach who was let go and seemed bitter about it, I could see him raising a stink about Mookie as well…even though he probably knows nothing about the decision making process.
If not HoJo, then maybe its some other person with ties to Mets history…maybe either another ’86 Met or someone like Leiter (as someone else mentioned) who was a Mets fan. I think HoJo is most likely though

Is this all going to be revealed after some kind of poll where the answer is
Dandy Salderson?

Well HoJo says its not him
Asked about it on twitter he said “no it’s not me. If I write something I will put my name to it rest assured”
Of course if it was him, and he went through the trouble of writing an anonymous article…it would probably take more than just some questions on twitter for him to admit it was him. But who knows
Unrelated, but it's a crazy world we live in
When some random fan can quickly double check with Hojo on something and get back to a bunch of other random fans. Internet be crazy yo.
