Around the Playoffs
In 12 innings, the Tigers beat the Yankees 6-4 in Game One of the ALCS. Down 4-0 to Detroit headed into the bottom of the ninth, the Yankees got two-run home runs from Ichiro and playoff hero Raul Ibanez to tie things up at 4 apiece off of Jose Valverde. Unfortunately, that'd be all they could muster the rest of the night. The Tigers scratched out two runs in the 12th off of David Phelps, one of them in part to an awful dive for a line drive by Nick Swisher in RF. In bad news for the Yankees, Derek Jeter left in that 12th inning with a fractured ankle and he's finished for the postseason.
Game two of the ALCS between the Yankees and Tigers starts at 4:00 PM on TBS. It'll be Hiroki Kuroda on the mound going up against Anibal Sanchez. Later tonight, game one of the NLCS is on FOX at 8:00 PM. The Giants host, as they'll send Madison Bumgarner to the hill to face against Lance Lynn for the Cardinals.

Bud Selig's opinion on instant replay seems to have changed pretty quickly. After repeatedly downplaying the need for replay, Selig said in an interview that "we'd better" have expanded replay in baseball next season.
Nationals' lefty and possible free agent-to-be Sean Burnett will have surgery on his elbow to remove a couple of bone spurs this offseason.
Giants' first base coach Roberto Kelly was released from the hospital after he was struck in the back of the head by a line drive during Saturday's batting practice at AT&T Park. Kelly could be on the field tonight.
Washington Wizards' player Bradley Beal was berated on Twitter for rooting for the Cardinals during Friday night's Nationals' loss.
The 16-month old son of Astros' backup catcher Carlos Corporan has died. Carlos Corporan Jr. had undergone four heart surgeries since he was born in June 2011.
