Meet the Mets

Can we just give the Cy Young award to R.A. Dickey right now? The Mets fell to the Marlins 4-3 in extra innings, a game in which R.A. gave up three runs over six innings and the Met offense was as anemic as usual, up until the point when Heath Bell Heath Bell'd all over the game. For Dickey, it was a solid, though unspectacular outing that ended in a no-decision and a quality start. But what is most important is the word that Dickey pitched from April 13th through the rest of the season with a partially torn abdominal muscle that will require surgery on October 18th. For real. So, just to recap, from April 13th (when R.A. hurt the muscle on a cold day in Philadelphia) through the end of the year, our favorite knuckleballer threw 220.2 innings with a 2.78 ERA, 220 strikeouts and just 49 walks in 31 starts. He threw 5 complete games over that span, not to mention that his incredible stretch in May and June happened post-injury. There shouldn't be any question in regards to who the NL Cy Young is at this point. Give the man his award. The end.

NO POLITICS but the Mets have had an interesting trend of success and failure throughout the years based on the party of the President in office. Coincidence or extreme coincidence? You decide. BUT SERIOUSLY NO POLITICS!
