I think that Sandy Alderson has done an average job with the farm system and since we have a couple new
prospects,I believe we should use them to improve now. This is New York.
Steps:
1. Extend David Wright (7 Years/ 126 million). He will earn 16 million this year
This guy deserves the money. He should be the face of the franchise and should be here to win a championship, but we need to show him that we are willing to build a championship team.
2. Extend R.A. Dickey (2 Years/ 12 million with team option/buyout for the 3rd year)
R.A. has a very good chance to win the Cy Young tonight. He is the reason fans flock to the stadium when he pitches. Although he is old, he should last atleast 2-3 more years. If we do have to trade him, hopefully we get a bucketload of prospects for him.
3. Sign OF Nate McLouth (1 Year/ 3 million)
McLouth was a good player for the Pirates, a few years back, but has declined a little. He hit a solid .268 with the Orioles and a good reason why they got there. I think the Mets should atleast see what he has got and i think he is better than Duda.
4. Sign P Dana Eveland (1 Year/ 1 million) and Matt Lindstrom (1 Year/ 3 million)
5. Trade P Jenrry Mejia and IF Reese Havens to Boston for C Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Jarrod has had a rough go in the majors, but hes available and not Josh Thole.
6. Trade P Jeurys Familia, 3B Wilmer Flores, and P Robert Carson for OF Shin Soo Choo and RP Chris Perez
This is my favorite. Perez is a guy who could jump into a Closer role which makes everyone else a lot more comfortable in the bullpen. He had 39 saves for a bad Indians team and he desperately wants out. Choo is another solid player who hit 16 HRs and .283. The downsides are that he is 30 and is a free agent in 2014. I do not like trading Familia and Flores since those are our number 2 and 3 prospects, but to soldify a better bullpen and lineup this needs to happen. I have not seen anything out of Familia to like and Flores is being blocked by Wright, so why not trade him?
The infield:

The Outfield:
| LF | NATE MCCLOUTH | 3,000,000 |
| CF | KIRK NIEUWENHUIS | 500,000 |
| RF | SHIN SOO CHOO | 5,000,000 |
The Rotation:
| SP | R.A. DICKEY | 5,000,000 |
| SP | JOHAN SANTANA | 31,000,000 |
| SP | JON NEISE | 3,050,000 |
| SP | MATT HARVEY | 500,000 |
| SP | DILLON GEE | 500,000 |
The Bullpen:
| RP | BOBBY PARNELL | 1,500,000 |
| RP | JOSH EDGIN | 500,000 |
| RP | FRANK FRANCISCO | 6,500,000 |
| RP | CHRIS PEREZ | 4,500,000 |
| RP | DANA EVELAND | 1,000,000 |
| RP | MATT LINDSTROM | 3,000,000 |
The Bench:
| OF | MIKE BAXTER | 500,000 |
| OF | LUCAS DUDA | 500,000 |
| IF | JORDANY VALDESPIN | 500,000 |
| IF | JUSTIN TURNER | 500,000 |
| C | JOSH THOLE | 1,500,000 |
All of these salaries plus the 6 million owed to Jason Bay would put the Mets at
| 99,850,000 |
