New York Mets related news and links for Friday, November 16, 2012.

The NL MVP was announced on Thursday, and David Wright did not win. Buster Posey won comfortably, with Wright finishing a distant sixth. Still, it was an excellent season for Wright, and 2013 should be fun.

In case some of you have forgotten, R.A. Dickey was awarded the NL Cy Young award on Wednesday evening. I know it's Friday now, but it seemed appropriate to remind everyone of that again. John Harper got into the tough decision the Mets face in whether or not to keep the best pitcher on the roster, or TRAID him away. Tough a decision as it is, there will be something exciting to watch regardless of which decision the team makes, as Dickey will most certainly land a very good package if TRAIDed.

Ken Davidoff did the unthinkable, making Fred Wilpon look good when compared to another major league owner. Then again, that owner was Jeffrey Loria.

Yesterday at AA:

We looked back at November 15 in Mets' history, and had a look back at GKR 2012.

Around baseball:

The other league announced their MVP as well, with Miguel Cabrera defeating Mike Trout to take the award.

Mike Newman of FanGraphs listed the best reliever prospects he's seen on Thursday. It's disappointing to see Domingo Tapia considered a reliever here, but at the same time, it's nice to see him in the top spot.

The World Baseball Classic is underway, with qualifying going on for two different regions. Ruben Tejada went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts for Panama last night as Brazil recorded a big win for themselves.

Thailand was eliminated from the tournament, as they were upset by New Zealand in a game shortened by the mercy rule.

The wrap for this one isn't up yet (just got finished), but Chinese Taipei also triggered the mercy rule in a 16-0 win over the Phillipines. There will be more baseball on this evening, as Nicaragua takes on Colombia. All of the games are streamed live from the WBC website.
