Mets morning news and links for November 3, 2012.
Yesterday was another quiet day for the Mets, but there were a couple relevant items that came up. Mike Nickeas has officially cleared waivers and been removed from the Mets' 40-man roster. Here's hoping the Mets can keep Kelly Shoppach around next year as the right-handed half of the platoon behind the plate.

The big story yesterday was first reported as a trade, with the Cubs sending Carlos Marmol to the Angels in exchange for Dan Haren. But the trade somehow fell apart, and instead of getting Marmol for Haren, the Angels simply declined Haren's option. I've always liked Haren and don't think he's done just yet, but he and the Mets are obviously not a fit given the team's depth in the rotation and lack of money to spend.
