My ideal R.A. Dickey trade scenario

So, in case you haven't heard, the Rays absolutely decimated the Royals farm system, acquiring Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard for James Shield and Wade Davis. So a top 5, top 30, top 150 plus another young prospect for a number 1/2 starter, and a 4/5 starter. This is very, very good news for the Mets, as this should now not only lessen the number of ace quality pitching, but also shows what that ace quality pitching should net the team trading it away. The Mets still have some options, most realistically the Rangers and Blue Jays, but I don't think the Jays have much interest in trading away top prospects for Robert Allen, so that leaves us with the prospect rich Texas Rangers.

There has been a lot of buzz about Mike Olt and whether he is enough by himself for Dickey, and I don't think so, especially not with this Rays-Royals trade coming to fruition. The Rangers also have a plethora of outfield prospects to work with, and none more appealing than Leonys Martin. With his fantastic defense and strong bat, he has all the makings of a very good Major League CF. But that's not where Sandy should stop, also asking for Martin Perez, the Rangers top pitching prospect, as well as one of the better LHP prospects in baseball.

Anyway, here is the eventual trade I believe would benefit both teams

Mets trade:

R.A. Dickey, Josh Thole and Wilmer Flores

Rangers trade:

Mike Olt, Leonys Martin and Martin Perez

Mets get two potential impact players and a potential future number 2 or 3 lefty pitcher. They get younger, fill the CF and LF void with Martin and Olt, respectively, and this also gives the Mets the option of trading Niese, with Perez profiling to be close to his caliber.

Rangers get a potential ace to front their rotation, along with Yu Darvish and Matt Harrison, which could make for a very formidable staff. They also get a catcher that Dickey is comfortable with, in Thole, and a possible platoon partner with Geovany Soto. And lastly, they also get a top hitting prospect in Flores, who would make a nice fit at DH or 1B for them in a year or two for them.

I think this trade gives both teams exactly what they're looking for, and helps both teams in the short and long term.
