Maybe I missed it in the daily news, but as of yesterday Jason Bay added a cool mil' to his already guaranteed buckets o' ducats by signing with the Mariners, where he joins such familiar luminaries from the Minaya regime as Oliver Perez.
I know a lot of people around here liked Bay, saw him as a good guy who gave it his all but what I see is a guy who had, at best, a deleterious effect on the Metropolitan's ability to compete in the post-Madoff payroll restricted era. I never boo'd him, I don't boo players. (Note--Armando Benetiz exemption). But I will say the knowledge of his presence, the various could-have-had-this-guy ruminations I pondered, these thoughts manifest themselves into something like a deep, inward perma-boo on all that is Jason Bay.
So what say you? Do you hope for Bay's success? I'm not a boo'er, but I do wish his continued suck-a-tude and a tidy DFA off the Mariner's roster. At least they can waste some money on him as well.
Is that wrong?
