There have been a lot of baseball players in the history of the New York Mets, and some of them have been better than others. Some have been more popular, and some have been more memorable. Some, upon leaving the Mets, have passed quickly into obscurity.

Like Richard Hidalgo, for instance.

This is a game-issued, unworn Astros jersey. Why it's listed under "Mets" is a total mystery to me. There are Mets players whose jerseys from other teams, if I had an unlimited amount of disposable income rather than barely any at all, would interest me. I'd be at least a little interested in a Mike Piazza Dodgers jersey, for instance, if I was starting a collection, or something. But the idea of a Mets fan shelling out $51 and $10 shipping (which is what this seller got for this) is entirely insane to me.

I suppose Hidalgo did hit a bunch of home runs in about half a season in 2004, and there was that time he hit them in five consecutive games (three against the Yankees), but I had to look that up to remember what exactly it was that he did while he was here. It's weird enough that (I assume) an Astros fan paid real money for this, but a Mets fan? That's bonkers.

Maybe they thought it was Carlos Beltran.
