Meet the Mets
Contract talks with R.A. Dickey continue to move at a snail's pace and the Dickster is starting to lose his patience. While working as an elf at the Mets' holiday party, Dickey took plenty of questions and had plenty to say about his contract status. The Mets have lifted their offer up to two years at $20 million, still below what Dickey wants but much closer, at least. Ted Berg and Toby Hyde both looked at the Dickey situation a bit. Dave Cameron points out that Dickey is not some sort of a one year wonder.
Sandy Alderson spoke about the 2013 team and it sounds like it's going to look a lot like the 2012 edition. Sigh, let's hope this is just GM speak.
Jayson Stark has the breakdown of David Wright's contract and there are lots of 20's in the middle years.
The Mets are kicking the tires on hated ex-Marlin Cody Ross. He wouldn't be a bad fit if they could get him for two years.
Ike Davis is looking to continue his June through August success throughout the entirety of 2013.
Around the Majors
The Diamondbacks, Indians and Reds completed a three-way trade. The Diamondbacks get SS Didi Gregorius, LHP Tony Sipp and 1B Lars Anderson, the Indians got SP Trevor Bauer, CF Drew Stubbs, and RHPs Bryan Shaw and Matt Albers, while the Reds got RF Shin Soo Choo and INF Jason Donald. Weird deal for Arizona and now they're not likely to deal Justin Upton.
The Red Sox are holding out from announcing the Mike Napoli contract for some reason.
The Phillies and Cubs apparently discussed a Domonic Brown for Alfonso Soriano swap. Brown's stock has really taken quite a hit.

It's probably time to start questioning Sandy Alderson's regime, says Matthew Artus.
Chris McShane says that the Mets should meet Dickey's modest demands. Absolutely!
Bernie Madoff was caught stealing on this day in Mets' history.
