Now that Josh Hamilton has signed with the Angels, it suddenly looks like both the Rangers and Angels could get very motivated to add R.A. Dickey to their rosters. The Angels, for their part, suddenly have some surplus position players on their team with the addition of Hamilton, combined with a starting pitcher shortage. The Rangers, on the other hand, need to find a way to get better next year, and with Hamilton, Grienke and Upton (at least reportedly) no longer options, Dickey has to suddenly be looking like a good option.
The Mets reportedly asked the Rangers for Mike Olt and CF prospect Leonys Martin. As for the Angels, there have not been any rumors recently reported, though Peter Bourjos has been mentioned in past rumors regarding both Dickey and David Wright. I would presume that the Mets would not even consider Kendry Morales or Vernon Wells, two of the surplus Angels pieces so that would leave Peter Bourjos and Mark Trumbo as targets. Hank Conger, the Angels catching prospect who is blocked by Chris Ianneta, would also seem to make sense for both teams since the Mets need a catcher and the Angels don't seem to value Conger.
So if it came down to it, and both of these teams started to make bids around those players, which of these would you like most?
Rangers - Olt and Martin
Angels - Bourjos and Conger
Angels - Trumbo and Conger
Angels - Bourjos and Trumbo
Or is there another combination of players you think the Mets could get? Do you think any of these are realistic trades for the Mets? Would you trade Dickey for any of these combos? Let the discussion begin.
