The Mets front office has packed up and left the winter meetings, and R.A. Dickey is still a member of the pitching staff. Not much actually happened for the Mets at the meetings, but Sandy Alderson still had a few comments.
David Wright just signed a new deal that will see him paid handsomely in the future, and he gave some of his money to New York CIty on Thursday to help with Hurricane repair. Quite a guy, that David Wright.
Justin Turner talked a bit about hitting, among other things.
Yesterday at AA:
We took a quick look at Kyle Lobstein, the player the Mets selected in the Rule 5 draft. Lobstein was immediately dealt to the Tigers for cash considerations.
We took a look back into Mets history on December 6.
Around baseball:
Ruben Amaro Jr. just wouldn't be Ruben Amaro Jr. without a winter move that makes everyone scratch their head. Dave Cameron took a look at the massive price that Amaro paid for Ben Revere.
The Red Sox made a bit of a better move yesterday, signing Koji Uehara for a reasonable price.
The Seattle Mariners seem intent on adding some competition for Jason Bay. They are rumored to be working very hard to add Josh Hamilton to the mix.
