That double goes over the head of Andre Dawson, who’d been Carter’s teammate there in Montreal for nine seasons. Dawson was pretty much done as an effective player at that point too, though the Red Sox (in true “we want to be like the Yankees” fashion) paid him $9M to make a lot of outs for them over the next two seasons.

Wow...

It’s truly amazing how the Expos can put together so many teams with Gary Carter, Tim Raines, Andre Dawson, Steve Rogers and Tim Wallach and walk away with not a single championships. That’s baffling and sad, I would’ve liked for Gary to earn multiple rings with the Expos and Mets.
