No way the Mets win 70 games?
Jesus, how can I get a job as an NL executive? You literally can be a moron, but be well paid and compensated; case in point.

Who reported last year, when the Mets were like 5-13
A scout asked, “What’s the most losses the Mets have had in a season?” The writer responded and then the scout gave a grim look, or some nonsense like that implying the 2011 Mets were going to be as bad as the 1962 Mets.

I have to agree with him, we can't expect anyone one to replicate Reyes' 37 WAR season.

I don't understand how the NL East is "loaded"
The Phillies will be great but (probably) worse than last year but the Marlins, Nats and Braves are all pretty flawed teams right? The Braves offense was dreadful last year and they really did nothing to improve the team in the offseason. Also, remember that the Marlins only won like 72 games last year so even with Reyes, and bounce back years from Josh Johnson and Hanley a lot still has to go right for them to improve 15-20 games in the standings. And, you can’t just assume that every player on all of these teams is going to stay the same or get better. The Marlins and Nationals should be better, but again, it’s impossible to predict which players will get injured/have down years, etc. The Marlins went into last year with a healthy Josh Johnson and Hanely Ramirez and got little production from either one. Honestly it’s not close to the AL East or West where you have multiple teams that are almost certainly going to win 90 games. The only team that seems a lock to win 90 are the Phillies. Not saying the Mets will win the division (on paper they are certainly no better than 4th) but I think it’s a huge, ridiculous exaggeration to say the division is loaded.
Phillies and Braves are playoff teams
And the Marlins and Nat’s improved by about as much as anybody in baseball.
I’m not sure what you mean about “going into last year healthy” for Josh Johnson and Hanley Ramriez; Johnson went down with an injury on May 16th, and didn’t pitch again for the rest of the year. Hanley missed half the season, and played through injuries while he was there. Add Reyes, Buerhle, Bell, healthy seasons for Hanley and JoJo, and they should do far better than 72 games.
The Nats won 80 games last year, and added Gio Gonzalez and Edwin Jackson; plus, they already had impressive talent on the horizon with Harper and Strasbourg will be back and healthy for this year.
The Braves and the Phillies admittedly didn’t get much better, but they were already better than the Mets anyway. And the Mets are the only team in the division who have gotten significantly worse; they lose Reyes, Beltran, and K-Rod. On paper, every single team has more talent than the Mets so it’s a reasonable prediction. This is definitely the most competitive the division has been in a long time, and unless things fall right for the Mets, they could end up being the punching bag of the division.
It’s not at all comparable to the AL West; that’s a four team division and two of those teams are awful.

Early projections forecast we are going to finish last (but more than 70 wins)
Marcel: 74-88
Cairo: 76-86
In lobby for: Jaime Cevallos, Zack Lutz, orange unis and Rickroll as the 7th inning song.

not that 74 wins is much less bleak than 70, but we'll take what we can get
Hey, wait! I'm having one of those things. You know? A headache with pictures?

I'd buy 74 wins and last place
Baseball is one of the more unpredictable sports, so “on paper” doesn’t mean much, but for now that’s just how it looks.

I meant that on opening day of 2011 Josh Johnson and Hanley Ramirez
were healthy and it was expected that they would be productive. That proved not to be the case. My point is just because the players are there doesn’t mean that you will automatically get a great season from them. And just because you added guys doesn’t mean you can assume the team will play better. I can guarentee that there will be players on the Marlins and Nationals who do not perform up to expectations and that definitely will effect where they finish. I’m not saying the Mets will be good and that everyone will be bad. I think the Mets will finish in last and most of those teams will improve. But my point is I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the Mets to win like 75 games and it’s stupid to act like the division is so good that the Mets can’t possibly win more than 70 under any circumstances.

Is this what it takes to be a scout nowadays?
Everything said about the Mets has been exactly the same, without a hint of creativity or insight on anything beyond what any shmuck can learn by visiting the Mets Baseball-Reference page.
I don’t care if you’re going to bash the Mets, hell, I’ll welcome it. But please, find some new material for once.

If a scout said "Mike Nickeas is going to bat .150 this year, because x", I'd listen, because that's his area of expertise
I don’t see why I should care how many games he thinks the Mets will win. He has no more authority on that subject than your average WFAN caller.
at least his last name isn't "culate"
LOL
One day, this team is going to kill me.
