Here is an in depth scouting report on Mets top prospect Zack Wheeler. Even though he is a year behind Harvey and Familia development wise, would anyone really be shocked if he made it to the big leagues before either one of them? This is the Mets were talking about...

I'd be very shocked if Wheeler made it to the big leagues before Harvey or Familia.

Agreed

Harvey looks set to be in the rotation next season all going well this season for him.

Harvey, definitley

Familiar, eh. 50-50 on that one.

I think Familia's more likely to see big league time this year, actually.

He’s going to start in Buffalo and he’s already on the 40 man roster. I mean, not that Harvey can’t dominate, move quickly and be added to the roster but as long as Familia stays healthy and pitches reasonably well, I’d imagine he’s pretty much guaranteed big league time in September as a call-up at the latest.

Agreed, Familia is only 22 I think.

No need to promote him unless he figures out everything. It’s not like we’re going to need him in the bullpen down the stretch during a playoff hunt.

He's perfectly positioned for a September call-up

He’ll have had a full season of AAA, and he’s already on the roster. It’s precisely because the Mets won’t be in the hunt that September will be a good time to audition him for a role next season.

So Harvery is in

And Familiar is 50-50? Is that your plan? Lol

Yes, I would be shocked

this is the Sandy development era. Last year things slowed down, a lot

Familia is the only one of the three on the 40 man

I’d be far from surprised if he’s the first of the trio to reach the majors at some point, in some form, this season. Harvey could still pitch his way ahead of him, however. I doubt Wheeler sees any time at the MLB level this year, though I do believe he has as good a shot as Harvey or Familia to open the 2013 season with the big club.
