2012 AA Prospects List #1 (edit: and apparently #2)
Amazin' Avenue did a community prospect list last year and I thought it was really fun. I guess whoever ran it either doesn't have the time or the interest so I thought I'd step up and start it.
I would like to go twenty deep but we're a little pressed for time so we'll see how it goes. I plan to have the polls open for two days which is not a lot of time for people to vote but like I said, we're coming up on pitchers and catchers reporting. Two-day polls would put us at #20 forty days from now. As for who is eligible, I'm going with strict rookie-eligibility. For the first few polls there will be more then five candidates but for subsequent polls I'm going to try and limit the options to five for simplicity's sake. However, I encourage people to use the comments to propose who should be added next - otherwise I'm just going to use my own judgment and the already published lists as guidelines.
When voting (especially on this first one) please do so without looking at the results first. I know it's tempting but I would like an honest result.
So with out further ado, poll #1:

That's what I get for multitasking.
Computer Graphics homework and commenting/writing a FanPost does not mix well apparently.

at least Allan Dykstra
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
Where is 2010 1st rounder Matt Harvery?
He’s my first choice.
Chamption of the R.A. Dickey Face contest and "Cromulent Photoshopper Extraordinaire" of Amazin' Avenue!
You might know me as mistermet.
No Lastings Milledge??
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
Why can't I write in Alex Escobar?
"And that's why anybody who invested with Lenny Dykstra should really call that number. Lawyers are standing by."

Toss up for me
I think Ian Bladergroen could hit .330 in the majors, but Brahaim Maldonado hit like 28 homers in the minors. I think he can be the next Strawberry.
Interesting to see how this list could shake out. I think Pat Strange can add some more velocity, and look out for Mike Vail. He’s raw but he could replace staub one day.
37 - 14 - 41 - 31 - 17 - 42 - SHEA
can you believe there is no Tobi Stoner?
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
Come to think of it, where the hell is Finnish slugger Tuuu Timp?

squid92 was the dude who ran this last year btw.
I would’ve went with Fmart but I guess i’ll settle for Harvey.
It looks like the first few wont generate much discussion, since they are almost consensus.
I find it more interesting to read why people vote for certain player, what do they value more (choices of upside/close to ML, numbers/stuff, positional need or not, pitcher/position player etc), rather than discussing lists that player “A” should be in the #6org spot instead of the #8.
In lobby for: Jaime Cevallos, Zack Lutz, orange unis and Rickroll as the 7th inning song.
The Unwritten Rules of AA
I voted Harvey
His ceiling is supposedly ever so slightly lower than Wheeler’s, but the numbers he’s put up are just as good- if not better- against more experienced hitters, for now. That, along with Wheeler’s control issues that we need to see if they’re hammered out or not, give Harvey the edge.

I voted Harvey as well
for more or less the same reasons you’ve stated.

Me three.
I don’t feel there’s much difference in ceiling, plus he’s succeeded at a higher level.

Yeah, my rationale for voting Harvey was the downward trending walk rate
Vs Wheelers big contol problems than a massive changeover into a strike throwing machine when we got him.
I'm going to call this one early.
Because I can and it’s pretty obvious who’s going to win.

You can't tell for sure Wheeler is no. 2
Everyone who voted for Harvey might have voted for Familia as no.2 – it’s not likely and I thik Wheeler would have been no.2, but you can’t tell for sure from the numbers of this vote.
Following the Mets from across the pond.
Eh, over half of the Harvey voters would all have to vote for the same guy with none of them voting for Wheeler for Wheeler not to win.

Yes, Wheeler would with 99% probability be the no.2
but the statistician in me had to point out that you can not actually know this for sure based on the vote.

I'd rather have Esix Sneed
where’s Alex Escobar?
