Two Mets Minor Leaguers -- Including Former 2nd Rounder -- Suspended 50 Games
2007 second rounder -- and 6'11" monster -- RHP Scott Moviel and 2008 fifth rounder C Dock Doyle have both been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for 'drugs of abuse'. It was the second such offense for both players.
Despite their draft positions, neither is much of a prospect. Too bad though as Doyle is a Daily Farm Report favorite and Moviel is just a nice dude. I randomly came across his family outside a game a couple years back as they were having some sort of ticket snafu. I happened to have credentials that night so I found him inside and he came out and cleared it up. Couldn't have been nicer or more appreciative about it as he seemed like a genuinely good guy. Oh well.

I remember seeing Doyle in Brooklyn
That’s my most fond memory of him.

At least Moviel's trying to get better
Marlins take Stanton, then we take Moviel, then Atlanta takes Freeman.
But, but, but
Omar was always great at building a minor league system.

It's not PED's
It’s a recreational drug

Hey, if anything
I just learned that his name is “Moviel”, and is presumably pronounced “Mo-Veal”. I always thought it was spelled “Moivel”, and pronounced “Moy-Vel”, like Professor Frink would say.

Tall righty
Omar loved those guys for some reason
2012 New York Mets, World Series Champions!
not really
it’s tough to consider any high school pitcher “safe” and moviel is no exception. this was more a case of bad scouting or possibly even just bad luck. a high school senior with his size — though he was only 6’10" at the time — who was already touching 93 mph with good feel for a developing breaking pitch is certainly not a horrible lottery ticket. unfortunately for the mets he never really developed any further than that.
now their insistence on continually scouting height over stuff, command, etc may put the onus back on them a little bit…

Guy named Dock taking drugs?
Never would have guessed that one.

Gary Cohen: What's wrong with the script?
Ralph Kiner: Well the script should be the Mets win every day.
