The Marlins' lineup was C-level at best, but the Mets took advantage with an easy win on the road. When the games count in a few weeks, similar results would be fantastic.
On the whole, the Mets' pitchers had a good afternoon. They struck out nine, walked only two, and didn't allow a run. Jon Niese had two strikeouts in two innings, Ramon Ramirez had three in one-and-two-thirds, and perennially-underrated Manny Acosta whiffed two in two innings. Bobby Parnell, Chuck James, and Garrett Olson each appeared in the game, as well.
At the plate, Justin Turner joined the early discussion for King of Spring Training as he went 3-for-3 with a home run. Ruben Tejada drew a couple of walks at the top of the order, and Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas each had a pair of hits.
The Mets host the Marlins tomorrow at 1:10 pm, and the game will be broadcast on SNY.
Nice job by MetsFan4Decades; her effort in the game thread embiggens us all.
