AAA - Buffalo Bisons (6-7)_______________________________________
LEHIGH VALLEY 1, BUFFALO 4 (Box)
SP Chris Schwinden hit the tops of lots of bats, inducing 12 fly balls in a 7-inning, 4-hit bid to lurk on the big league doorstep. He struck out and walked 1 batter each, facing only 5 more than the minimum in a 1-run performance. 3B Zach Lutz has faced more injury-related bad luck, as David Wright's awesomely broken finger is blocking a well-deserved cup of coffee. Lutz keeps crushing the ball (2-3, 2B), and we keep saying stuff about lightning not striking six times, while knocking wood. Pat Misch pitched for the IronPigs. I don't Misch Pat guy.
- CF Jordany Valdespin: 0-4
- 3B Zach Lutz: 2-3, 2B, K
- 1B Josh Satin: 0-4, K
- RHP Chris Schwinden: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
AA - Binghamton Mets (5-6)_____________________________________
BINGHAMTON 10, NEW HAMPSHIRE 6 (Box)
The B-Mets slashed out 6 runs in the top of the third without a long ball, complementing a pair of 2-run attacks in a double-digit high-flyer in Bingo. Every Met except 1B Travis Ozga enjoyed a hit, while Navarro, Den Dekker, Cambell, Lagares, Rodriguez, and Centeno each collected two. SP Collin McHugh has now struck out 16 in 16.2 innings, while walking 5 and scattering 15 hits for 4 earned runs. The 6'2" Georgian worked a nifty 5 innings before entrusting the lead to the shaky right arm of Kevin Mulvey. Mulvey was hit pretty good, but it was a pretty good lead, also absorbing a solo blast off our boy Josh Edgin.
- RF Juan Lagares: 2-5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
- CF Matt Den Dekker: 2-5, R, RBI, 2 K
- C Juan Centeno: 2-5, 2 R, 2 2B, RBI
- DH Rylan Sandoval: 1-2, 3B, 2 RBI, BB
- RHP Collin McHugh: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, HR
- RHP Kevin Mulvey: 1.1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
- RHP Robert Carson: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
- LHP Josh Edgin: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 K, 1 HR
Hi-A St. Lucie Mets (10-2)________________________________________
ST. LUCIE 6, CHARLOTTE 1 (Box)
3B Wilmer Flores pounded a pair of doubles and notched 2 RBI in a 1-2-4 attack that together went 5-11 with 4 doubles, 4 RBI, and 2 walks. (SS Daniel Muno and CF Cesar Puello, who also stole a base, were the other top-of-the-order heroes.) SP Gonzalez Germen allowed just one hit through four innings, then limited damage in a 2-on-no-out fifth. His lovely 1.65 ERA is a nice testament to 14 Ks and 4 BBs in 16.1 IP. Like in 2011, the wee-Mets are off to a lighting fast start.
- CF Cesar Puello: 2-4, R, RBI
- 3B Wilmer Flores: 2-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI, BB, E(2)
- SS Wilfredo Tovar: 2-4, R, 2B, RBI
- 2B Danny Muno: 1-4, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB
- RHP Gonzalez Germen: 5.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
- LHP Adam Kolarek: 1 IP, 2 K
Lo-A Savannah Sand Gnats (8-4)__________________________________
SUSPENDED - Power Outage (Partial Box)
SP Logan Verrett had struck out a pair, walked a pair, and surrendered 4 hits in 3 IP before the lights went out at State Mutual Stadium in Rome, GA, and the Sand Gnats were the better team by a run, 2-1. Our beans came, in part, off the tripling bat of Aderlin Rodriguez, and 1B Brian Harrison deserves mention for a 2-2 effort with a double. We'll start afresh with a day-night double header beginning this afternoon.
