We're now a month into the 2012 baseball season and things are going rather well, all things considered. The Mets are off to a nice start and through the first month, they've been a lot of fun to watch (Friday evening's catastrophe notwithstanding). The majority of the team's most important players have stayed on the field (sorry Mike Pelfrey and Jason Bay) and they're even having fun off the field, dressing up like Cowboys on Sunday night. What better time to begin compiling pictures for the third annual edition of Puppy Avenue?
So if you're new around here or you somehow missed it in previous years, you may be asking: what the #$%@ is Puppy Avenue? Scroll past the jump and you'll find out.
Your task is to scour the internet and search for pictures of dogs that bear resemblance to the players that make up the roster of our beloved 2012 New York Mets. The goal? Create an entire canine Mets roster. Why? Because it's fun (DUH!!!). To add to the madness, everybody else in the organization and in baseball is in play. As we've done in the past, we can create a canine front office, a canine Mets broadcast team and more. So if you find a picture of a dog rolling around in money and want to call it Jose Reyes Dog, then go ahead. If you find a picture of a hideous, douchey-looking dog and want to name it Shane Victorino dog, go for it! Once you find a rockin' picture (or pictures), post it in the comment section of this thread. This thread will run for around two weeks before the Puppy Avenue post goes up. If you really like a picture that was posted by somebody, award the picture a rec. You can vote for as many pictures as you'd like, as this isn't really a formal thing. I'd just like to get a count as to which picture people like best so I am not the only person choosing for the Puppy Avenue post. Some players may get one picture, others may get multiple pictures depending on what we find and how the voting turns out. Also, I'd prefer not to reuse any of the pictures from previous Puppy Avenues, but if we do, so be it. Again, we're not picky here. This is just for fun.
If you'd like to learn a little more about or relive the magic of the prior Puppy Avenues, here are the links to the 2010 and 2011 editions. If you want to learn a little more about why we do this and how it started, it began with this game thread back in 2010. And of course, it all began with the infamous Ike Davis Dog (Isles732):
And that's all! Have fun looking for dog pictures. Once the thread dies down, I'll put together a post with the complete Puppy Avenue 2012 roster. Now get to it!
