Mets Player Performance Meter, Week 5: Hitters

Obligatory: TRAID.

It was an all-or-none week for the Mets' hitters. Some were on fire, but others barely reached base. As a team, the Mets' .317 wOBA now ranks fifth in the National League.

Statistics below run from May 11 through 17 unless otherwise noted.

Player Last Week This Week Comment
Mike Baxter, OF Baxter had just nine plate appearances but raked.
Jason Bay, LF The latest is that Bay should return sooner than later, creating somewhat of a logjam in the outfield.
Ronny Cedeno, SS Outside of his improbable home run yesterday, Ronny C. didn't hit much at all.
Ike Davis, 1B This is getting painful to watch.
Lucas Duda, RF The Dude may not have hit any home runs, but The Dude didn't make many outs this week, either.
Scott Hairston, OF Another light-hitting week for the veteran.
Rob Johnson, C Bunts! Or in this case, one rally-starting bunt.
Daniel Murphy, 2B The Irish Hammer continued to hit for average and draw walks, but his three doubles added a little pop to his offensive line.
Mike Nickeas, C Get well soon, Josh Thole.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF With a .576 OPS, it was a forgettable week. If I were a Trekkie, I'd say something clever about one of Captain Kirk's failures.
Ruben Tejada, SS Tejada's not close to returning.
Josh Thole, C Still resting after suffering a concussion.
Andres Torres, CF After a very good week, Torres was the Mets' worst hitter this week with a .324 OPS.
Justin Turner, IF So much grission.
Jordany Valdespin, IF .111/.111/.111 says it all.
David Wright, 3B Wright earns the first fireball of the year after a week in which he led the team at .565/.667/.913.
