Corner IF Production: Will Up Go Down if Down Climbs Up?

We all hope that sooner or later Ike Davis will recover his lost form - and when he does the offense will start to carry the club right? But what if it turns out that David Wright isn't going to be the first .400 hitter since the Splendid Splinter? Figuring that one might progress while the other regresses I thought it might be instructive to look at their combined production to date. Would you have signed up for 285/375/462/837 lines from each of your 2012 NY Mets corner infielders? If so you ought to be happy if the rest of their combined season's play out the same way they have thus far. Looking at the way he's ripping the ball, most of us would feel it's way too low for Wright but remember he entered 2012 as a bit of a question mark. The combined numbers reflect a 30+ point jump in each of his 2011 slash numbers: 254/345/427. And Ike began 2012 with a 271/359/460/819 career line. So while an optimist may have expected more than the current combined numbers - it hardly makes you a card carrying pessimist if you would have been happy to take 285/375/462.
