Mets Player Performance Meter, Week 3: Hitters

Silencing the haters.

If the Mets had a weakness on their road trip to Colorado and Houston, it was pitching. While not all of the team's hitters were great over the course of the past six games, several were excellent.

The Mets' .335 OBP ranks fourth in the National League, and their .316 wOBA ranks seventh. At a rate of 3.8 runs per game, the team is tenth in scoring. Stats below run from April 27 through May 2.

Player Last Week This Week Comment
Mike Baxter, OF Didn't play a ton but made Whitestone proud when he did.
Jason Bay, LF Nothing to see here.
Ronny Cedeno, IF Nothing to see here, either.
Ike Davis, 1B Considering how awful Ike's April was, the .333/.364/.381 line this week is a step in the right direction.
Lucas Duda, RF Before he was taken out by the flu, Duda raked to the tune of a 1.042 OPS. He's probably not available in your fantasy league anymore.
Scott Hairston, OF He hit for the cycle in Colorado, which helped fuel his .652 slugging this week.
Daniel Murphy, 2B The .440 OPS alone warrants the red arrow.
Mike Nickeas, C Truly playing the role of backup, Nickeas had only 3 PA this week but went 2-for-2 with a walk. That works.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF After several weeks of raking, he finally came down to earth a bit with 9 K and just 2 BB this week.
Ruben Tejada, SS A bounce-back week if there ever were one: .464/.483/.536. Tejada should see more time atop the order than Niewuwenhuis at this point.
Josh Thole, C With a .459 OPS this week, Thole finally looked human after a very good April.
Andres Torres, CF Torres only hit .250/.250/.250 in his first few games off the DL.
Justin Turner, IF Didn't play much but had a hit a walk.
Jordany Valdespin, IF You may not have noticed, but he's still on the roster.
David Wright, 3B Wright was back to his dominant self this week, hitting .476/.593/.667. He did that without even hitting a home run. Traid, of course.
