Johan Santana looked the sharpest he had since his no-hitter, getting into a few jams in the early innings but wriggling out of trouble each time. His opposite number, Tommy Hunter, got one harmless groundout after another until the fourth, when two one-out singles and a walk set things up for a Daniel Murphy RBI groundout. The Mets expanded their lead on a two-run blast from Lucas Duda in the sixth and a two-out, two-RBI single from Jordany Valdespin in the seventh. Santana had to exit after six innings, but the bullpen combined to keep the O's silent the rest of the way. Hey, there's a first time for everything.
Full recap to come.
