Mets 5, Cardinals 0: Dickey Allows Hits, But No Runs In Complete Game

Stay connected for news and updates

Dickey!

The Mets scored five runs thus afternoon, but all they really needed was one. R.A. Dickey pitched his fourth straight gem, a complete-game shutout with 9 K and 0 BB. Dickey joked about following up Johan Santana's hitter after the game last night but followed up with a great game of his own. The Mets scored their first three runs in the second inning, even though they had just one hit that got out of the infield. They got one more in the seventh on a wild pitch, and David Wright hit on opposite-field solo home run in the eighth for the team's fifth and final run of the day.

We knew it was over when...

R.A. Dickey took the mound. He and Johan Santana are that good right now.

What else?

This team is a pleasure to watch.
