Ruben Tejada's rehab of his strained right quad shifts to Buffalo, where he'll join fellow recently disabled infielder Ronny Cedeno, who has been recovering from a strained left calf. Cedeno is expected back with the Mets before Tejada, perhaps even as soon as this weekend's series at Citi Field against the Yankees.
Jordany Valdespin will be in the lineup again for the Mets tonight after going 2-for-4 with two two-out RBIs last night. He's hitting .323/.344/.613 with six extra-base hits, no walks, and one hit-by-pitch in his last 32 trips to the plate. Daniel Murphy, who is hitting .271/.314/.344 this season, will ride the bench again. If we only ever looked at batting average we'd probably scratch our heads about benching a second baseman hitting .271, but Murphy has shown not one scintilla of power or patience this season and has been essentially worse than a nondescript Triple-A second baseman you might find kicking around most teams' minor league systems.
