AAA - Buffalo Bisons (38-40)_______________________________________

DURHAM 14, BUFFALO 10 (Box)

Hail Satin! Wow. For the second straight game the Herd benefited from a multi-homer game and lost anyway. Mark Cohoon was awful after being promoted to AAA, Jack Egbert was even worse when he came on for him in relief. By the time those two were finished, not even Satin himself could lead the herd to victory. For all the lousy pitching though, the offense looked awfully good yesterday.

AA - Binghamton Mets (36-38)_____________________________________

BINGHAMTON 11, ERIE 5 (Box)

Zack Wheeler allowed 5 earned runs last night, his highest total since being TRAIDed for #BlameBeltran. It's amazing what a little run support will do for you though. Reese Havens continued to show signs of life, and Francisco Pena has been absolutely raking since his promotion. Throw in a 4-4 from Wilfredo Tovar and the Metsies easily had Wheeler's back.

Hi-A - St. Lucie Mets (2-3)________________________________________

DAYTONA 7, ST. LUCIE 3 (Box)

DAYTONA 4, ST. LUCIE 3 (Box)

Double dipper in Florida, and the 2nd game went 12 innings before it could be decided. St. Lucie got off on the wrong foot early, with Angel Cuan lasting just over an inning in the opener. Erik Goeddel would be better in the second game, but the Mets offense struggled a bit in both contests. Nine hits in nineteen innings isn't usually going to get the job done, but Travis Taijeron's 14th HR of the season was notable.

Lo-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (1-4)__________________________________

CHARLESTON 3, SAVANNAH 2 (Box)

The Gnats 9th inning rally came up just short as they continue their losing ways in the second half of the season. The Gnats managed to get the tying run into scoring position with only 1 away in the 9th, and then managed to have him at 3rd with the bases loaded an out later. A Gilbert Gomez hard lineout would end the night in disappointment though, and the Gnats are just 1-4 since the standings reset. If you get to Gnats games often, this might be worth a read.

    Short Season A - Brooklyn Cyclones (6-2)__________________________________

BROOKLYN 3, HUDSON VALLEY 0 (Box)

Brandon Nimmo is clearly a bust, but it doesn't really matter as long as we have Luis Mateo. Mateo and the bullpen combined to allow only 2 hits on the night as Brooklyn moved into sole possession of first place in their division with the victory. It looks like we might have another really impressive pitching prospect on our hands.

  • CF Brandon Nimmo: 0-4, 4 K, HBP
  • SS Philip Evans: 2-4, 3B, K
  • C Kevin Plawecki: 0-3, BB, K, R
  • 1B Cole Frenzel: 2-3, 2B, BB, K, 2 R
  • DH Stefan Sabol: 1-3, K, HBP
  • 3B Alexander Sanchez: 1-2, K
  • RHP Luis Mateo: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 7 K, BB

    Appalachian League (R) - Kingsport Mets (1-6)__________________________________

    DANVILLE 10, KINGSPORT 2 (Box)

Akeel Morris looked good through 4, but the wheels came off in the bottom of the 5th. Danville would explode for 10 runs in the inning and the game would never be in doubt after that. Kingsport dropped to just 1-6 on the year with the loss.

    Star of the Night

I'm having an awfully tough time with this one. Hail Satin was awesome for the herd, but Luis Mateo was absolutely fantastic for the clones. I suppose we'll call this one a draw and give them both half a star.

    Goat of the Night

    TRAID Brandon Nimmo! 0-4! 4 K's!
