It didn't stink like Tuesday night's game but tonight's performance by the Mets was nonetheless uninspiring. The lineup mustered just three hits and two of their runs scored on ground outs. Daniel Murphy committed two errors, one of which led to an unearned run. Murph booted a ground ball by Bryce Harper in the first inning. Two batters later, after a Ryan Zimmerman walk, Adam LaRoche hit a hanging breaking ball from Jeremy Hefner over the right field wall for a three-run home run. The Nats scored another run in the fifth on a Mike Morse RBI single and that proved to be enough. It was a pretty blah game.
Ike Davis was on base three(!) times tonight. He walked twice and hit an opposite field double. Yay Ike. Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit an RBI single in the third inning. No other batter did anything of note.
