Mets' David Wright, R.A. Dickey Chosen For All-Star Game

David Wright will make his sixth All-Star Game appearance this year.

Though he was stupefyingly outvoted by the Giants' Pablo Sandoval, spectacular baseball player David Wright was named an All-Star reserve for the National League based on a vote among big league players held a few weeks ago. Wright leads all NL third basemen in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, muscles, valor, charisma, and roguish good looks, but he'll nevertheless ride the pine for the NL squad. It's his sixth All-Star Game appearance and first since 2010.

Joining Wright will be first-time All Star R.A. Dickey, who is the best pitcher on the planet and possibly in the universe. La Russa has yet to name the starter, but Dickey has as good a shot as any to be that guy.

Johan Santana was not named an All-Star reserve despite a terrific bounce-back season after missing all of 2011 recovering from shoulder surgery. He could still make the team if he's added to the Final Vote ballot, wherein fans can select the final player to make the team from a list of near-misses.

Carlos Beltran, who is hitting .310/.396/.576 with 20 home runs for the Cardinals this season, will be a starting outfielder for the National League.
