The Mets have lost four games in a row and five of six, but don't blame the offense. The pitching — particularly the rotation — has been responsible for the team's record of late. At 4.57 runs per game, the Mets still sit fourth in the National League in scoring.

Player Last Week This Week Comment
Mike Baxter, OF Baxter's playing rehab games and should be back with the Mets sooner than later.
Jason Bay, LF Bay is expected to return to the Mets' lineup, though he didn't play very well in Buffalo last night. He has just 83 plate appearances this year, which means the only way his 2014 option vests now is with 600 PA in 2013.
Ronny Cedeno, SS Cedeno didn't play much but got on base when he did. He now has a .357 OBP on the season.
Ike Davis, 1B A .916 OPS from Ike works.
Lucas Duda, RF Duda's in a big slump at the plate, having a hard time playing defense, and he's dealing with a minor injury.
Scott Hairston, OF Hairston's .261 OBP gets bailed out by his .545 SLG for the blue arrow.
Daniel Murphy, 2B Murphy hit .296 but had just one extra-base hit.
Mike Nickeas, C In very limited playing time, Nickeas continued to not hit.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF If and when all of the Mets' position players are healthy, Kirk could wind up back in Buffalo if he keeps struggling — he hit .105/.227/.105 this week.
Omar Quintanilla, SS He's still on the roster, but he did not play.
Ruben Tejada, SS Tejada continues to impress with his ability to hit for average and be patient enough to draw walks, especially at the age of 22.
Josh Thole, C The Mets just aren't getting offense behind the plate these days.
Andres Torres, CF Could Torres finally be turning the corner at the plate? He hit went 6-for-10 over this stretch.
Justin Turner, IF Turner trolled Eric Simon pretty well this week with a 1.571 OPS in his 7 plate appearances.
Jordany Valdespin, IF With a .429/.500/.857 slash line, Valdespin might have earned himself more playing time.
David Wright, 3B Wright has spoiled us this year. His .887 OPS seems pedestrian compared to what he's done all year long.
