Thursday Mets Mind Boggler: 40-Plus Doubles In A Season

David Wright hits one of his many, many doubles.

David Wright is having an incredible year at the plate, and he is on pace to hit 50 doubles. No Mets hitter has ever hit 50 doubles in one season, but six players have hit 40 or more. Two of them did it more than once, and one of them is a very, very easy answer.

Mets Hitters With 40-Plus Doubles In A Season

For what it's worth, Earl Webb of the 1931 Red Sox holds the all-time record with 67 doubles. Eight of the top ten leaders played between 1923 and 1936, but two seasons happened fairly recently. In 2000, Todd Helton hit 59 doubles, and Carlos Delgado, who was with the Blue Jays at the time, hit 57.

Since this is a relatively short mind boggler, the timer is set at just two minutes. If you're new to the mind boggler series, you only need to enter the last name of a player in the box. Post your time and score in the comments.
