Two dominant starts in a row: one against us, and last night against the Nats. I know, ALL the other teams "missed out" on him, too, but isn't he exactly the kind of low-risk high-reward signing the Mets should have been looking for? Sheets is a guy who was listed in a number of thoughtful AAOP's pre-season. ..
I guess I'm just wondering why someone who was definitely on the radar, seemed to get no interest (saw NADA linking him with us) from our FO. As our season implodes, I keep thinking how nice it would have been to get some good starting pitching help right about now.
Sure, his arm could fall off tomorrow. Maybe Sandy's hands were tied financially. But amongst all this talk re: Batista vs. Harvey vs. all the other scrubs we have in our system for 5h starter, it sure would have been nice if Sheets was OURS.
