Mets Player Performance Meter, Week 12: Hitters

The Irish Hammer is hammerin' again.

The Mets are now averaging 4.6 runs per game, which is the third-best mark in the National League. They may not be the most powerful team in the league — their .396 slugging percentage is slightly below the National League average — but the Mets still have the ability to score runs.

Player Last Week This Week Comment
Mike Baxter, OF Baxter has gone to Florida to begin working on a return to the Mets.
Jason Bay, LF Bay is symptom free after his recent concussion, and he's working on getting back soon.
Ronny Cedeno, SS Cedeno made four plate appearances and four outs.
Ike Davis, 1B Ike slugged another home run, but he was atrocious otherwise with a .182 OBP.
Lucas Duda, RF Duda hit just .238 without any extra-base hits, but his ability to draw walks and work a .360 OBP saves him from the red arrow.
Scott Hairston, OF Hairston homered against Cliff Lee, but he didn't do much else. He's still an excellent part-time player.
Daniel Murphy, 2B Murphy followed up a great week with an even better one, hitting another home run plus four doubles and a triple. His OPS this week: 1.299.
Mike Nickeas, C .111/.200/.111
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, OF Kirk's .633 OPS wasn't great, and he's now day-to-day with an injury to his right hand.
Omar Quintanilla, SS Quintanilla made three plate appearances and three outs.
Ruben Tejada, SS Tejada was spectacular with a 1.079 OPS driven almost entirely by singles and walks.
Josh Thole, C The expectations for Thole are realistic, so a week in which he hits .357 is acceptable.
Andres Torres, CF There was a time when it looked like trading Angel Pagan for Torres and Ramon Ramirez. That time feels like it was very long ago.
Justin Turner, IF Turner only appeared in three games and had just one single in total.
Jordany Valdespin, IF Valdespin rejoined the Mets yesterday but has not played yet since his return.
David Wright, 3B You know things are going well when 2 HR and a .261/.346/.565 slash line are just a normal week for Wright. He'll beat out Joey Votto for MVP by season's end.
