AAA - Buffalo Bisons (45-45)_______________________________________

BUFFALO 7, NOMADIC AAA YANKEES 6 (Box)

A nice come from behind win for the Bisons who were down 5-1 in this one after starte Garrett Olson got roughed up in the early innings. Matt den Dekker struck the first blow, a three run bomb in the sixth, and the Bisons actually took the lead in the seventh on a bases loaded walk to Adam Loewen and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Josh Satin. Bisons reliever Josh Edgin couldn't hold the lead, but managed to vulture a win when Brad Emaus plated Valentino Pascucci with a pinch-hit single in the eighth. The two headed monster of Manny Acosta and Justin Hampson closed the door for Buffalo who got back to .500 with the win.

AA - Binghamton Mets (40-46)_____________________________________

BINGHAMTON 8, ALTOONA 2 (Box)

What was shaping up to be a pitcher's duel through four innings turned into a laugher for the B-Mets as they struck for three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Francisco Pena struck the big blow, a three run bomb, his second since being called up to AA, and Sean Kazmar and Eric Campbell each added 2 RBl. Cory Mazzoni turned in his first nice start since his AA debut, tossing seven stirling innings.

  • CF Juan Lagares: 1-4, 2B, R, RBI, BB, K
  • 3B Jefry Marte: 0-4, R; Hit .227 in June, just .143 so far in July. They have to buy Marte some calendars that just say April for 12 months.
  • 2B Reese Havens: 0-4, BB, 3 K
  • DH Allan Dykstra: 1-4, R, BB, 3 K
  • C Francisco Pena: 1-3, HR (6), 2 R, 3 RBI, BB, K; Pena continues to show some pop in his bat.
  • RHP Cory Mazzoni: W, 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K; Nice bounce back start after getting roughed up in his last two outings.
  • LHP Robert Carson: 2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 4 K

Hi-A - St. Lucie Mets (-)________________________________________

BRADENTON 6, ST. LUCIE 3 (Box)

Gift Ngoepe, St. Lucie Mets killer, hit a pair of bombs, and the Marauders hit three in total against St. Lucie to power their way to victory. Angel Cuan got touched up for two of those home runs in his seven innings of work, and four of the six hits he gave up went for extra bases. Cory Vaughn sent one over the fence for the second straight game, but he was just one man against the onslaught of Gift Ngoepe.

Lo-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (-)__________________________________

GAME 1: CHARLESTON 9, SAVANNAH 7 (Box)

GAME 2: SAVANNAH 1, CHARLESTON 0 (Box)

.A tale of two games, well, literally. In Game 1, the Savannah arms put up this line 7 12 8 7 7 4 1. In Game 2, 7 2 0 0 1 5 0. Aderlin Rodriguez played hero again, plating the Sand Gnats only run in Game 2 with an RBI double. The less said about Game 1, the better. After going 3-6 in the twin bill, AdRock is now slugging over .500 for the season and may see St. Lucie before the year is out.

    Short Season A - Brooklyn Cyclones (14-6)__________________________________

    WILLIAMSPORT 6, BROOKLYN 3 (Box)

For the second straight game the Crosscutters roughed up one of Brooklyn's starters, but this time they got a 'W' to show for it. Williamsport singled Luis Mateo to death, while the Cyclones failed to convert on their opportunities, going 2-12 with RISP and leaving 10 men on base.

  • CF Brandon Nimmo: 1-3, 2B, R, RBI, BB, K; Quietly posting a .738 OPS
  • SS Philip Evans: Day off for the slumping Evans
  • C Kevin Plawecki: 1-3, BB, E (2)
  • 1B Cole Frenzel: 0-5, 3 K
  • SS Juan Carlos Gamboa: 2-5, 2B
  • LF Steven Sabol: 1-3, 2B, R, RBI; Seven doubles in 17 games. Sabol is definitely one to keep an eye on and has some real pop in his bat.
  • DH Jayce Boyd: 0-4, K
  • RHP Luis Mateo: L, 6 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 8 K, HBP; Like Ynoa last night, pounded the zone and missed bats, but was too hittable. Though FWIW, only one of those hits went for extra bases. Plus, his 30:2 K:BB ratio is nothing to scoff at.

    Appalachian League (R) - Kingsport Mets (4-12)__________________________________

    PULASKI 13, KINGSPORT 2 (Box)

As usual, not too much to say here. Though keep in mind, guys like Cecchini, Kaupe and Nido would probably be in the complex if the Mets still had a GCL team.

    Star of the Night

Let's give it to Aderlin Rodriguez who continues to rake, batting .440/.481/.880 in the steamy Savannah July. Kevin Goldstein recently mentioned Aderlin as having the biggest gap between what he is and what he could be, but slowly the Savannah third baseman seems to be closing that gap a smidge.

    Goat of the Night

The Savannah pitching staff in Game 1. The Gnats have struggled to score runs since River and Taijeron were promoted to St. Lucie. Can't waste those seven run outbursts.
