The Mets' third game in San Francisco began with an incredibly unlikely home run by Ruben Tejada, the second of his major league career. In the second inning, the Mets loaded the bases with a trio of one-out singles, but they scored just one run on a ground out by Jordany Valdespin. The team went on to squander several other opportunities to score runs, but Jon Niese was excellent in seven innings of work and held the Giants to just one run. Tim Byrdak, Jon Rauch, and Bobby Parnell finished of the game.
We knew it was over when...
Bobby Parnell set down the side in the ninth inning.
What else?
- The Mets could have easily had another run in the fourth inning if not for a spectacular inning-ending catch by Gregor Blanco.
- Matt Cain nearly hit David Wright in the head again on a curveball that got away from him.
