Meet the Mets
Raise your hand if you were shocked to find out that the Mets scored runs on Friday evening. I can't see you but I imagine there are a lot of you sitting in front of your personal computing device, raising your hands. Well, count me in, as it was a shock to see that the Mets scored multiple runs in a 7-3 victory over the Brewers. Jon Niese tossed six innings, allowing just two runs on six hits. The bulk of the offensive firepower came from Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda, who each hit home runs. Duda also added a run-scoring ground rule double.
Sandy Alderson gave the Mets' coaching staff a vote of confidence yesterday.

The Phillies keep winning. UGH STOP IT. 12-6 over the Astros. The Braves beat the Nationals 2-1 on a walk-off throwing error. And the Marlins defeated the Reds 4-0 behind seven shutout innings from righty Jacob Turner.

Chris Carpenter is ready to rejoin the Cardinals' rotation after missing the entirety of this season. They could really use him too, as they have just a one game lead in the Wild Card after falling to the Dodgers 8-5.
The Giants will not bring back Melky Cabrera in the postseason, despite his suspension ending after 5 playoff games. Scratch that...that should say Current National League Batting Average Leader Melky Cabrera.
