Mets Morning News: Beh-beh-beh-beh Beard, Beard, Beard, Beard Is the Word

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

I'm lying in bed, just like Brian Wilson did (while waiting for a one year deal with incentives so he could rehab his value in search of a long-term deal next offseason)

Meet the Mets

So it's come to this, eh? Brian Wilson and Sandy Alderson continue their weird mating dance as we all remember how bereft of actual news the month before pitchers and catchers report. The Daily News can't even come up with a good headline for the story. Come on, NYDN, it's the one thing you are actually good for.

Over at Faith and Fear in Flushing, Greg Prince argues that the Mets should make 2013 the year of Ron Hunt. (29 days until pitchers and catchers, in case you were wondering)

Yesterday at AA

Brock Mahan and This Date in Mets History celebrated Kevin Mitchell's birthday. Somewhere in my parents' basement I have the hologram Topps card of him making the bare-handed grab behind his head. That's my one Kevin Mitchell memory.

Around MLB

David Schoenfeld of ESPN.com has five players to be wary of in 2013. I think he Shields concerns are overblown, as he's really the least of the Royals' problems.

MLB.com wonders what Bryce Harper and Mike Trout will do for an encore.Probably be really good baseball players again.

Jeffrey Loria and David Samson probably have the right idea.

Dan Szymborski continues to release his 2013 ZIPS projections over at FanGraphs' new Geocities site. Up today is the Pittsburgh Pirates.
