The first roster moves have been made by the Mets as they attempt to make room on the 40-man roster. No-hit hero Mike Baxter was placed on waivers, and has been claimed by the Dodgers. Reliever Robert Carson was also claimed, he'll be heading to the American League half of the city. Sean Henn and Greg Burke both successfully cleared waivers and were outrighted to the minor leagues.
There are several arbitration eligible players in the Mets organization that would be candidates for multi-year deals, but it doesn't sound as if the Mets will be offering one to any of them this offseason.
One player who will be coming off the 40-man roster in the coming weeks is Johan Santana, and Andy Martino doesn't think that a reunion is very likely.
