Meet the Mets

Reports say that the Mets new radio home will be WOR 710 AM. Howie Rose will be a part of the radio team, though the status of his partner Josh Lewin is less certain. Apparently, the Mets will be paid more than the $7 million that they were paid by WFAN.

Jeff Paternostro wrote about Mets' pitching prospect Gabriel Ynoa, who had an excellent season with Savannah in 2013.

The White Sox signed Cuban first baseman Jose Abreu and Steve Sypa explains why that's okay.

Tim Lincecum is going to test the free agent market, writes Joshua Ryan.

Around the Playoffs

Carlos Beltran is headed to his first World Series, folks. The Cardinals ripped apart Clayton Kershaw in game six of the NLCS last night, defeating the Dodgers 9-0 to complete the series. Michael Wacha was once again excellent, tossing seven shutout innings en route to wrapping up the NLCS MVP.

With the Red Sox ahead of the Tigers 3-2, game six of the ALCS takes place tonight. It'll be Max Scherzer on the hill facing off against Clay Buchholz.

Around the Majors

At the start of last night's NLCS game, Dodgers' Scott Van Slyke and the Cardinals' Joe Kelly got into a strange standoff after the National Anthem that went on until right before the first pitch.

Sources say that the Yankees are preparing to spend $300 million on players this offseason. Targets include Robinson Cano, Masahiro Tanaka, Brian McCann, and Carlos Beltran.

Rangers' closer Joe Nathan is expected to decline his 2014 option and become a free agent this winter.

Rays 2011 first rounder Taylor Guerrieri is set to miss all of 2014 after having Tommy John surgery but now he'll also be suspended 50 games for testing positive for a drug of abuse, believed to be marijuana. It's Guerrieri's second offense.

The Reds are interested in trading Brandon Phillips this offseason. Phillips is a fantastic defender but considering he's owed $50 million through 2017, and at age 32 just put up a measly 91 wRC+ while playing half his games in a great hitter's park, that's probably a guy to pass on.
