to all of u still calling Murphy average please stop

Murphy was 8th in all of MLB in hits. he hits a ton and would not benefit from fewer AB lower in the order. Murphy actually thrived when batting 2nd in the order (302/.339/.440). it's only when players went down around him with injury's and he was juggled around in the lineup that his numbers actually dropped.

now lets get to this whole average thing. apparently u haven't heard the news let me be the first to inform u steroids are out of baseball, almost 100%. yes a decade ago Murphy would have been average but not today. this is a pitching dominated game now and guys who hit over .320 or 60 home runs are gone. guys who hit around .300 with 40 doubles and 15 home runs (like Murphy can do) don't grow on trees any more. if u think Murphy is average or worse and belongs the Bench u must have been asleep for the last 10 years.

MLB average now is (.255/.319/.405) . Starlin Castro 1 of only 2 players with more AB than Murphy hit .245/.284/.347 with 9 stolen bases and 6 caught stealing. look around Major League Baseball there are alot more of the Brian Dozier types and alot less of the Robinson Cano types. do u ppl even remember Luis Castillo i mean aside from that drop VS the Yankees, no well that's because he was terrible. things at second base can get really bad really quickly without Murphy. i don't think the vast majority of u realize how bad things could be for the Mets and are all around baseball at every position.

so before all of u say lets trade Murphy and give the job to Wilmer Flores. then if Flores can't field or just completely fails the Mets can just find some other average player for 2B. just remember Omar Quintanilla played 95 games hitting .222/.306/.283 and T.C said he did a good job. top prospects fail all the time Justin Smoak was 7th best prospect in 2010 where is he now? i'm not saying trade the kids for aging superstars signed for a long time. i'm saying solid above average MLB contributors should not be written off in the favor of a shiny new toy with serious question marks. there is a dearth of overall good offensive players in MLB right now, especially at premium positions. that makes a guy like Murphy very valuable and not easily replaced. Murphy should be signed to a long term deal and Flores should be moved to 1B or not on the Mets at all.

the year is 2013 here is a cup of coffee it's a Venti Triple Mocha Latte and costs 8 dollars. we have computers in our pockets that are smaller then a Walkman and can hold thousands of movies and songs. we have a black president. we have televisions that are thinner then an inch and connected to the internet. there was also an earth quake in New York and on a bad day gas costs 5 dollars a gallon. MURPHY IS NOT AVERAGE!!! welcome to the brave new world how was ur nap? also from hence forth Murphy should only be referred to as an above average player or his lord ship, the sultan of swing and demigod of doubles (either or ur choice). New York Mets
