The Mets are probably going to be looking at external options to play shortstop for the team next season, but Ruben Tejada is still working his way back from a broken leg should the team struggle to replace him.

Latroy Hawkins turned out to be an excellent signing for the Mets last winter, and would reportedly be open to a return. With that in mind, it still sounds as if he's likely to test free agency to see what sort of offers are out there.

Steve Sypa profiled an international free agent that might be of interest to the Mets, taking a look at Randy Messenger.

Bryan looked back at the 1988 Mets, and a season which ultimately ended up being a major disappointment despite reaching the NLCS.

Around Baseball

There was no baseball being played last night, but that didn't stop the Dodgers from spending more money. They reached an agreement to sign Cuban second baseman Alexander Guerrero, and are 'very much aware' of Masahiro Tanaka.

The other LCS losing team had a bit of news yesterday as well. Jim Leyland has decided to step down as Tigers manager, and the team already has a pair of former players that are being rumored as possible replacements. We also found out that Miguel Cabrera may need surgery, and that potential Mets target Jhonny Peralta would like to remain in Detroit.

The Reds have a new man in charge for next season, as Bryan Price has been named as their new manager.

Alex Gordon had a very odd platoon split this past season.
