The Mets were among the teams in attendance for Jose Abreu's workout, and his raw power reportedly did quite a bit to impress those who watched.

Voting has begun for the 2013 Hank Aaron award, and David Wright has been nominated. Fans can vote until December 10.

Now that the minor league seasons are all over, there will be plenty of prospect rankings making the rounds. Baseball America released their top 20 for the FSL, and Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard was on that list.

Jeff wrote about a pair of prospects he saw this past year, profiling both Danny Muno and Erik Goeddel.

The Mets might not have played this late in the year for quite a while, but one of the most recent times they did so was a good day to be a fan.

Around Baseball

All five teams from the NL East are now hanging out on the golf course, as the Dodgers eliminated the Braves last night to advance to the NLCS. Who they'll be facing for the right to represent the NL in the World Series will be determined tomorrow night, due to the Cardinals beating the Pirates to force a deciding fifth game.

On the DH side of the bracket, the day got started with the A's beating the Tigers to take a 2-1 series lead. Game 4 of that series starts at 5:00 pm EST today, and can be seen on TBS.

The other game in the AL could have ended the Rays season, but some late heroics managed to force another night in that one as well. That game is set to start at 8:30 pm EST on TBS this evening.

Umpiring is one of the things that goes under the microscope in October, and Rob Neyer had a look at one particular umpire that's been in the spotlight of late.
