I realize this is late to the show but with two young kids it’s hard to get anytime. I would be interested in any and all feedback. I really enjoy reading this blog and wanted to throw my hat into the ring
Malholm, Paul: 2 years/$14 million
Hawkins, LaTroy: 1 year$2 million
Minor League Signings/Camp Invites:
Jeff Francoeur-I know….but he can still hit lefties
Why it makes sense for Mets: The Mets get a stud corner OF who is has a great valued contract. Plus some stud prospects.
Why it makes sense for Royals: If KC can’t sign Ervin Santana their pitching is in a world of hurting. Even if they do sign him it is still suspect. KC also got no production form 2B. KC can also out and sign David Murphy to play LF.
I was torn on whom to trade here, Duda or Davis but because of Duda’s low salary I think he would be an attractive piece for the Rays to fill the void at 1B and power hitting lefty. Mets get a back a solid prospect that is ready for the Majors.
Why it makes sense: The Mets need a shortstop, while Castro had a down year last year he is still on of the top in the league and has a solid contract. The cubs are loaded in the minors with bats but no Pitching. Montero can step in and fill that voide. Quintanilla would just be filler until Baez is ready to go.
Why is makes sense. The twins are not going anywhere, and need pitching for when Buxton and Sano arrive. The Twins can also sign another FA who is less injury prone.
Jordany Valdespin to Baltimore for Player to be named later:
The Good: Adding a quality OF and SS under team friendly contracts and added depth to the farm system. Added a solid starting Pitcher in Malholm who can eat innings and bridge the gap until Harvey is back and Syndergaard arrices. $17 million coming off payroll next year to add another big time player….CARGO?
The Bad: Starting Pitching is a little light. Had to give up some quality Major league talent, still some question marks at 2B an 1B.
The Ugly: OF Depth. If somebody goes down is Jeff Francoeur really my next option?
