Sidearming righty Greg Burke became a free agent last week and while the Mets have interest in bringing him back, he's also drawing interest from the Blue Jays and Rockies.

David Lennon of Newsday predicts that the Mets will sign Shin-Soo Choo to a 6 year, $105 million contract and Jhonny Peralta to a 2 year, $19 million contract. Sounds like the start of a fine offseason to me.

Jeurys Familia surrendered a home run in the Arizona Fall League All Star game yesterday.

Around the Majors

The Red Sox had their World Series parade yesterday through the streets of Boston. There was a really nice moment when Jonny Gomes placed the World Series trophy down on the Boston Marathon finish line and draped it with a "Boston Strong" Red Sox jersey. Afterwards, first baseman Mike Napoli walked those same streets drunk and shirtless.

It sounds like the Tigers have hired former big league catcher Brad Ausmus as their new manager.

Here's a shocker: the Marlins are not expected to expand payroll by much and instead will shop for bargains.
