The Cubs finally hired a new manager, picking former Major League infielder Rick Renteria as their guy. Renteria served as the San Diego Padres bench coach for the past three seasons and also managed Team Mexico in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
After a season in which their starters collectively posted the worst ERA in baseball, the Minnesota Twins are going all out for starting pitching. They have shown preliminary interest in Bronson Arroyo, Phil Hughes, and Jason Vargas, as well as Scott Kazmir and Johan Santana.
